THE WINCOR COLLECTION

THE WINCOR COLLECTION

For centuries, the archetypal symbols of the weaving peoples have been an expression of the culture that unites. In all countries of the world familiar signs are woven into textiles, which are of great importance for people of different cultures. Over the centuries cultural exchange and trade between peoples shaped the mutual influences of color, pattern and style. Collecting antique rugs is a worldwide passion (some call it a sickness), but especially in the West, and has been a constant on both sides of the Ocean for nearly 150 years, since Julius Lessing published what is considered to be the first book ever written on carpets. The value of the WINCOR Collection is above all when seen as a whole: with its strict choices to include only the flat.woven carpets from Caucasus and mainly from Azerbaijanin order to show off the wide variety and beauty of the weaving technique and also of the colours and composition.*
