Tauriska Project Schafohrmarke (SheepEarTag)

SheepEarTag: these three words are the starting point for a cultural project that innovatively illuminates the blessings of the sheep over the centuries. Farmers, scientists and artists are invited to accompany the project and contribute with their knowledge and suggestions.

The cross-thematic exhibition offers workshops, lectures as well as culinary and musical highlights

Transhumance is one of the most archaic phenomena. It began with the first domestication of farm animals and represents the way in which humans managed to keep and preserve animals by following the pasture, so to speak. He thus adapted to nature and not the other way around, nature to his needs. The hiking pasture economy is based on a year-round search for grass: from the alpine pastures over the low mountain range to the sea. Speaking of the Dolomites: One of the most important routes connects the Lagorai group with the Venetian and Friulian plains. In France, the Rhone Valley is an outstanding example, where the paths that connect the Camargue with Dauphiné and Savoy are particularly well known. A tradition that has become an important tourist attraction and that is also culturally enhanced, as evidenced by the training of shepherds in primary schools. In Italy, the transhumances in the Mediterranean are of great importance, such as those that connect Abruzzo and Apulia, but there are also alpine exaggerations, such as in Schnalstal in South Tyrol, which have become a tourist attraction.
